Britney Spears deactivated her Instagram. The pop superstar was arrested on suspicion of a DUI on Thursday, March 4 in Ventura, Calif., PEOPLE confirmed. She was released in the early morning hours of Thursday, March 5, according to arrest records from the Ventura Sheriff’s Office. Her Instagram page was taken down at some point this week.
Shortly before the arrest, Spears shared a racy video on Instagram of herself dancing at home in lingerie that barely covered her body. Her bare breasts were partially censored with heart emojis. The “Toxic” singer has deactivated and later reactivated her page on the platform in the past.

Spears’ March 4 arrest was listed as a “cite and release” with no probation noted. She is due to appear in court on May 4.
A representative for Spears tells PEOPLE in a statement, “This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”
The statement continued, “Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.”
Spears is a mom to sons Preston, 20, and Jayden, 19, whom she shares with her ex‑husband, Kevin Federline.
PEOPLE reached out to the Ventura Sheriff’s Office for additional information. Spears has experienced ups and downs over the past few years. She was released from her 13‑year conservatorship by an L.A. County judge in 2021. The Grammy winner sold her music catalog last month, PEOPLE confirmed at the time.

In February, Spears also shared a throwback photo on Instagram of herself posing nude on a beach. She has posted similar images in the past. The “Gimme More” singer released her tell‑all memoir, The Woman in Me, in 2023. She wrote in the book about why sharing risqué selfies brings her “a lot of joy.”
“I know that a lot of people don’t understand why I love taking pictures of myself naked or in new dresses. But I think if they’d been photographed by other people thousands of times, prodded and posed for other people’s approval, they’d understand that I get a lot of joy from posing the way I feel sexy and taking my own picture, doing whatever I want with it,” Spears wrote.
