Amid all the Oscars buzz, a glamorous Hollywood wedding has also captured attention — and not just because a celebrity child tied the knot.
When Chaz Bono, the son of music legend Cher, married longtime partner Shara Blue Mathes on March 8, 2026, the celebration looked like something straight out of a movie. Held at the iconic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, the ceremony embraced a “Hollywood Glam Formal” theme, complete with stunning details from beginning to end.
But when photos from the big day hit social media on March 15, fans quickly zeroed in on one unexpected detail.
For Chaz, 57, the wedding marked the culmination of a relationship that began more than 40 years ago. He and Shara first met as teenagers at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute. Life took them in different directions for decades, but they eventually reconnected and made their relationship official in 2017.
Reflecting on their journey, Chaz shared:
“I first met Shara more than 40 years ago when we were just teenagers. I think it’s safe to say that not many grooms ultimately end up marrying the very first girl they ever kissed so many years later.”

Watching proudly from the front row was his mother, Cher, who has long supported her son both personally and publicly.
After watching Chaz’s documentary Becoming Chaz, she once said:
