Right after St. Patrick’s Day, the music icon shared a rare family photo on Instagram featuring her 14‑year‑old twins, Monroe and Moroccan — and everyone noticed the same thing.

Not everyone knows this, but Mariah — born in Huntington, New York — has Irish roots. Her mother, Patricia Hickey, a former opera singer and vocal coach, is of Irish descent. It’s clear Mariah embraces that heritage, and she shared the celebration with her twins, Moroccan and Monroe Cannon, from her previous marriage to Nick Cannon.

Mariah affectionately calls them Roc and Roe, and often speaks about the joy they bring her.
“I always want them with me, wherever I am, but it’s not always possible,” she once said. “They come with me a lot, which is great, but I do find it really hard being away from home for too long if they can’t be with me. They are teenagers now. They have their own things going on, but they are still my babies.”

“They both love music, but I don’t know,” she said. “If there is a song they like, they will sing it, but that’s as far as it goes right now.”
