Blake Shelton Says He and Gwen Stefani Have Major Plans for Their Oklahoma Ranch: ‘We’re Really Doing It’

Blake Shelton is explaining how he and wife Gwen Stefani are “stepping it up” this year at their Oklahoma ranch. In a March 4 Instagram Reel, Shelton revealed they did all the “hard work” themselves to prepare their land for a vegetable garden ahead of spring. Their sprawling Tishomingo, Okla., property is where the couple tied the knot in July 2021.

The country star, 49, gave followers an update on all the changes he and Stefani, 56, have planned for their Tishomingo property in a Wednesday, March 4 Instagram Reel.

“Hey guys, it’s Blake Shelton coming at you from Oklahoma. Getting close to springtime,” he begins. He then turns around to show off his orange Kubota tractor before adding, “Man, I gotta show you something.”

Shelton walks over to a section of the farm where long black tarps cover the ground. He explains that he and Stefani decided they’re going to do some “professional gardening, farming type stuff” on the property this year. “Me and my wife — I’ll show y’all, I’ll put a picture of my wife on here,” he says, as a throwback photo of Stefani with pink hair and braces appears. “Anyway, me and my wife — her name’s Gwen — we were out here putting this plastic out here yesterday. Just she and I, nobody else.”

He pans over the tarps as he continues, “It’s hard work, but we’re going to plant vegetables in here to keep the weeds out.”

As Shelton explains how they’re planning to grow tomatoes, peppers, squash and cucumbers, he recalls a funny family saying. “My stepdad used to always say cucumbers aren’t good for anything but a dick on a snowman, but we’re going to plant some anyway,” he jokes. “I don’t eat any vegetables in the first place, but it’s fine.”

Moving to another section of the farm, he shares what he’s “really excited about” growing soon. “This is going to be my sweet corn patch this year. I’ve already started working it up a little bit. I’m going to till it a couple more times to get it worked up because spring is almost here, people. Woo!” he exclaims, before singing a playful jingle: “Well I rolled out the plastic like a big black cobra, now I’m tilling up the ground on my orange Kubota.”

In the caption, Shelton expressed his excitement about the upcoming changes and tagged his wife: “We’re doing it… we’re really doing it this year… @gwenstefani and I are stepping it up!!!!”

Stefani and Shelton, who met as coaches on The Voice in 2014, married at their Oklahoma ranch in a backyard chapel in July 2021. In April 2024, Stefani opened up about rural Oklahoma life for the spring/summer issue of NYLON Print, and Shelton chimed in to praise her natural gardening instincts.

“Gwen has an incredible sense for planting things: how to grow them and, once it’s growing, how to cultivate it, and when to prune something,” he said at the time. “I like to farm on a big scale, like corn or beans, acres at a time. She concentrates more on patches here and there and ends up farming things a little better than I do.”

He added, “Gwen has her own tractor now, and we’re working toward her one day soon being able to fire it up and go out to do her own thing on it.”
