Bay Stone wanted to elevate her look. Although the TikTok creator already had veneers, she wanted to go “bigger” and “brighter.”

“This is actually my second set of veneers with the same dentist, and I decided to go whiter and brighter with my smile. I have such small natural teeth, I told him to go bigger and more level with my new set because to me, your teeth and smile are the most important feature on your face,” Stone, 25, tells PEOPLE. When she first saw her new teeth, her immediate thought was, “They are big and beautiful — straight, bright and flawless,” she says.

Thinking “this is fun,” she made a TikTok captioned, “No way I paid $20,000 for this,” adding the sound of a horse. Published on Feb. 12, the transformation video quickly went viral, racking up more than 38.6 million views.

Looking back on why she posted the clip, Bay tells PEOPLE she thought it was “gonna bring joy to people,” noting that whether viewers were “laughing with me or laughing at me, they’re still smiling.” “I did not expect it to blow up the way it did, and the comments — I am obsessed! If you can’t laugh at yourself, you’re missing the best joke,” Stone says.

Some commenters suggested she stain her teeth so they wouldn’t look so bright, while others said she should have kept her previous smile.

She shares that “several” dentists have reached out with “amazing” advice to fix her teeth, but says, “At the end of the day, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I personally love my teeth!”

Stone adds that she isn’t taking any of the negative comments too seriously. “If there’s one thing people can take away from my videos, it’s laugh at yourself. Life is meant to be fun and easy, so everyone interacting in the comments makes me want to create more fun content,” the TikToker says.
